This is surprisingly one of the few Meg Cabot book series that I just never read. I think I just didn't have that much interest in it, but I listened to an interview with her recently talking about the newest book in the series, so I figured I would give it a try. Also, I was really frustrated with reading the The Roanoke Girls, that I needed a happy palette cleanser and this book did the trick. This book doesn't try to take itself too serious, and that's kind of why I liked it. It's kind of like reading a romcom about a girl that gets swept up into a whirlwind romance for it all to come crashing down. Mostly because the dude is a an idiot and doesn't tell her off the bat that he's not the actual person she thinks he is.This book is kind of a blast from the past, as it was originally first published in 2002 and is set during a time when most offices and people where first starting to get email addresses and start corresponding with them. I was a kid when the internet became a thing, but I do remember a time where email did not exist. So although the book might seem really dated, I almost would like to read from a historical perspective, especially since the entire story is written in emails. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this format, but props to Cabot for experimenting with her writing. I still felt like I got the gist of the story, and I whipped through way too quickly. The story is quick to get through, and it was just a fun read that I couldn't put down. If you ever want to know what life was like in the early internet days, I would recommend this one. Man does it read dated, but I think it's almost like stepping into a different time, even though it wasn't really that long ago.

Eh. I read "Every Boy's Got One" a long time ago and loved it, and finally decided to check out Cabot's other "Boy" series books. While the former is told successfully through emails, journal entries, and Blackberry messages, this one gets limited by the only-email format. Hearing the climax scenes "after the fact", watered down through an email message told to someone else, really doesn't get the same importance across.I also found it very odd in the beginning how every email used the recipient's name constantly. It felt very forced and took me out of the scenes.Overall, cute story, but being told through emails definitely hinders the depth of the book, and the characters end up feeling one-dimensional.

Just a ton, ton of fun. Totally unexpected. It's pure fluff, don't get me wrong, but so worth it. Made me laugh/smile constantly. It's written "back in the day" when e-mail was still the new, cool thing (before texting and internet messaging, facebook, snapchat, Instagram, twitter, and the like). So, it's an office setting, various co-workers/colleagues, primarily, who are working at a newspaper outfit and e-mailing each other all day (then, of course, a "boy" comes into the picture ... and we get his e-mails, to his brother, to his mother, etc. ...). It's really fast-paced and clever. Loved it. Bought it on my phone at first. Then, went and bough a hard copy just to give to my friend, who I knew would think it was as hysterical as I did. The hardcover is ugly, though. So, if you buy it, go for the softcover. And to think the whole thing started, really, because I saw the cover with the Great Dane on it ... couldn't help myself, as I've had a few ... so started to read. The book's really not about the dog at all. Still, great, funny stuff! Highly recommend it for anyone like me (with super high stress, serious job) to just get away from it all at the end of the day! Fun stuff!

I saw a lot of "it's okay" I think it was because of how the story is set up and it is not a typical romance or even chick lit set up. I applaud the author for the unique aspect to this book. The characters create a lot of humorous scenes where you are literally cracking up laughing. There are awkward scenes between the characters that leave just enough humor to dampened the "uh...oh" scenes. I am not a fan of awkward moments I doubt anyone is but to the point where I will put the book down, pause the movie or leave the room entirely and not come back if it is really awkward and annoying. The author doesn't give me that with this book which I was happy with. These types of novels are always about blunders, humorous situations, awkward moments and over all just a oh no no no what did i do kind of feel. Cabot manages to pull this off with such flair and enjoyment. I have never been disappointed by any one of her books. I am slowly working my way through her entire collection of books because I know I will enjoy every one of them just because she is that well written and humorous of a writer.I hope she continues this series past the 3 books it has
