Crumb continues to refine and perfect his line technique and crosshatching style. This book covers the period during which he approached the peak of his technical proficiency. This volume does include the expected Mr. Natural, Snoid, sociopolitical, random observations, and absurd character subject matter. But a significant percentage of the book displays his obsession with the prototypical Crumb female. Quite a few pages are devoted to portraits and figure studies of his wife Aline and other Crumb-type women with exaggerated body proportions. It's obvious Crumb uses distortion deliberately to express his particular fetishes.The format size, paper stock, and printing quality more than do justice to these sketches. I wish the affordable edition of Crumb's _Sex Obsessions_ book had been formatted in this size rather than the somewhat smaller lower-budget one it was published in.
