This is an amazing course! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I wanted it the moment I heard about it, for myself as well as my boys. I have been interested in the study of logic for some time now. I wanted a course that is Biblically based and this is steeped with apologetics and is Biblical based. I want my sons to complete this course when they are ready for it (they are only in elementary). Some things that I liked best…. Throughout the book the key words are highlighted. It instructs to make these words into flashcards. Worksheets provide exercises for finding fallacies and other concepts from the text. I really like the images and infographics. Also, the answers in the TG are so helpful. They give additional information than is required which is great for further discussion. I feel that the study of logic is very necessary at his time. I want to equip my children with the ability to stand up to false statements and be able to spot fallacies. I want them to think critically and be able to articulate their beliefs. I feel that this course with prepare them for life in the real world and be able to defend their faith with logic.

For those who might be anxious about studying logic, have no fear! Written from a Biblical worldview, introduction to Logic: Informal Fallacies does a fine job of bringing you up to speed and encouraging you in learning more. This curriculum is simple and easy to grasp, and it is a good starting point for young learners or those new to logic. The lessons are short, of benefit, and offer great discussion points. Read through this curriculum and decided to use it for my children next school year. I thought it would pair perfectly with the "Preparation to College Writing" they are taking.My hopes is this will not only keep them from committing the falacies taught, but also help them to recognize when they here them in an argument.I love how they relate all teaching to Biblical truth.Each corresponding chapter in the teacher guide/workbook comprises a chapter review, short answer section, and a varied mix asking to fallacies.I hope the kids get as much out of this course as I did from the initial reading.

I love the suggested daily schedule set up. It makes it easy to use. I am thankful for a curriculum that uses biblical thinking. There is scripture throughout the worksheets for the student to look up and to practice logical thinking with a biblical worldview.

Besides giving you a 2 semester schedule to work off of, the Teacher's Guide offers you worksheets and practice sheets, to help your student better understand each chapter's logic definitions and concepts (see example below). I must admit, Marianne Willburn's book, Big Dreams, Small Garden, arrived at my door just in the nick of time. My husband and I moved recently, to a house with a tiny (really tiny) yard. The size of the yard doesn't bother me at all. It's a blank slate, one I can plant however I like, and I'm excited to begin. But I've never started from the ground up before, and even to a professional gardener like myself, it's a little daunting. (I might also add that my budget is considerably lower than that of most of my clients!)Marianne understands that breaking a project down into manageable pieces is key to getting the job done. From the beginning, she encourages you to list your goals and to prioritize them. She emphasizes getting your hands dirty, using reclaimed materials, and planning your garden with maintenance in mind. Such good advice! And Marianne leads by example, telling how she carried home thousands of free bricks to build a wall, and suggesting you contact landscape companies that might need to dump excavated dirt. Her approach to gardening is reality based and grounded in experience. The result is a garden that is personal and priceless.I know my small garden will look very different from Marianne's (since I get 14 inches of rain per year and she probably gets 44!), but mine will be as dearly beloved as hers is. And that's the whole point of this book. Wherever you garden, you can use the principals so clearly outlined here to create your own, personal, wonderful garden space. I'm grateful to Marianne for showing me how to get started.

I really liked the practical advice about embracing the garden space one has, visualizing its potential, and working toward beautifying it, rather than living one's life on hold while pining for a lavish estate and a staff of gardeners or some other fanciful dream that may never come to fruition. I liked that she acknowledged having worked through some envy of large expensive gardens before getting to a healthier place of gratitude and acceptance for her own little plot. Well-written and entertaining. I wish it had more pics of before and after gardens, and more pics of gardens from more areas of the country.

This description does Big Dreams Small Garden a disservice. This book is a fun informative read, but not about roses or orchids in ANY way. I suspect the writer did not provide the description..

A Great Addition for both the novice and seasoned Gardner! This is a really well written and engaging book, that in addition to being very thought provoking, informative (and at times hilarious) contains much information on creating a lovely outdoor space. I appreciated the writer's sharing of her own struggles and her helping the reader to work through some of the internal obstacles, such as perfectionism, that can keep many of us back from creating something new and taking some risks. Loved it, highly recommend.

Well, I will confess to being a good friend of the author but despite having spent years (more than one can count on fingers and toes) in the garden, I found lots to inspire in this book. Marianne manages to weave autobiographical threads into this text along with many personal encounters that make the story compelling. It's hard not to believe that many people will benefit from reading this book. Her prose is wonderful (that I expected) but the insights are invaluable. Get it, and read it.

Before and after - Thanks to this book! And to Marianne Willburn who gave a great presentation about thrifty gardening! She suggested finding the flaws and focusing on that. In the book she mentions using bamboo or reed to camouflage chain link fence. This is a good screen - not durable or expensive like bamboo. But I think biodegradable and definitely fun. My husband now refers to our tropical paradise after we put it up. Mai tais anyone?The other flaw/ shortcoming for me was the need for an outdoor living space. The repurposed carport is perfect. And meanwhile I have other inspirations to play with.

The author encourages the beginner gardener to see the awesome potential of a possibly depressingly small plot of land. At the same time and with great humor, she teaches us to be happy with what we have, not envy those with more, and how to produce a stunning creation we can be proud of.A must read for anyone who longs for more land than they have!

I've read it all cover to cover. I like the fact that it is not just a gardening book, but also a story and the connection between life's struggles and the fact that gardening is so calming and re-connects us. I also like the inserts about other people! It's a small world...I've known Jeannie Goforth for probably 20 + years and after my last day working at Mt. Weather, I sat with Paul and Jeannie on their back porch overlooking their little vineyard and drank wine to celebrate! Who would've known about the beauty that was tucked in down just below the high school!! Cool!! Marianne, thanks so much for sharing your life with us!

I'v been told that 5-star reviews don't seem "real" but giving this a lower mark would not do it justice. I just love the poetry and the pictures. I go to this book frequently just to re-read one or two of the poems and discover something new every time. Her choice of words is brilliant, and they pop into your head throughout the day. I was looking at some daisies and recalled the "...Sunlit smiles of joy" and thought what a perfect description as they always make me smile.

Life in Haike: Shallow Pond, Tall Grass is an interesting, quick poetic read. The captions under the pictures made me pause and reflect about the direction I am taking.

The material is well presented, and there are clear instructional videos available online to supplement your learning. I purchased this book because it's used as a text book for the WordPress class I was taking at my college.

I started building a website for the very first time with this book and it gave me concise and accurate how-to's and short-cuts. The concepts were built one on the other in just the way I needed it to get a good start. There are incredible resources listed that you could spend days looking for.

I highly recommend Mr Plumley Wordpress 24 hours trainer new edition. I have been using his booksto TEACH WordPress in the past and now with the new version is even better. I like his way of teaching, organizationand even comes with movie tutorials.

This book is misleading. At the end of most chapters it includes a reference to online videos and where you can find them on the WROX site. (So far so good.) It also says, "You will also be able to download resources for this lesson from the website." This is where it's misleading, because THERE ARE NO RESOURCES for lessons on the website. What there are is lists of WordPress plug-ins. There should be some text and images that would be used to produce the book's sample "Island Travel" site, but I cannot find any such resources.If the way you want to learn a new piece of software is by following along on examples, you'll be disappointed in this book. It gives the misleading impression that you will be creating an "Island Travel" website. That's the impression you're going to get from skimming this book in a retail store. Then, after you've spent a considerable amount of time (too much time to return the book), you'll find that it is NOT what you bargained for.Stay away from George Plumley!!!

Comprehensive guide to getting started with WordPress. After finishing this book I also have a decent knowledge of adding plugins so that I can go on to more advanced material on developing my own plugins. I recommend this book for technical users who want to start working with WordPress or non-technical users who want to start their own blog.As for the previous reader who gave the book one star, potential buyers can check out the ratings of the previous version of this book by the same author to get a fairer review.

I am a bit sorry I bought this book. What I paid is too much for what it is. What it is is a book containing information that is readily available on the Internet. Now, I knew that would probably be the case, but I bought it anyway. There seems to be confusion between self-hosting and web service hosting. While the plugin information is somewhat helpful, the editing is not optimal, with repetition of poorly-phrased instructions and details. What is not explained well the first time does not improve with the repetition. It looks like it was cut and pasted a lot. I might buy this book at this price, but not the $45 I paid for it in the airport so I would have something to read on the plane.

If you are a female and especially a black female, looking to start your own business, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. I can not put the book down. It can be used as a step by step manual/format for starting your own business. I especially like the "sister CEO" examples of other successful black women's business strategies. The book provides a wealth of information on suggested websites, companies, organizations, associations and other contacts for all types of business start ups. If you purchase, I would suggest you also purchase a spiral notebook to use as you read the book and perform the exercises listed.

This book changed my life, I no longer believe that I can't be rich. In fact this is the second time I have purchased this book to re-read it. Before getting to page 50 where it says: are you growing your money or is it sitting safe in the bank? This caused me to re-think and decide to purchase my fifth rental investment. Everyone can be rich with a little bit of discipline. This is a must reading for anyone who doubts that they are not destined to be rich, or at least comfortable with their lifestyle. Great book!

I'm a little sorry to see all of the negative reviews this book has gotten, since I found it to be one of the most eye-opening things I've ever read and, by following some of its advice, have gotten my finances into better shape than they have been in years.Let me clarify some things. This is not a book for the financially advanced, for professionial money managers or financial advisors, or for stock brokers. The intended audience here is the "Average Person" who works at something else every day but wants to better understand how to handle their money. This person probably has credit card debt, spotty savings, and some bad financial habits. I had none of those things when I picked up this book and I still learned tons from reading it.The principal message here is that being rich begins with your thoughts. They way we think about money determines to a huge degree what we do with it, how we invest it, and how we spend it. I think no one will deny that fundamental truth, but Suze's gift is finding the ways to connect our thoughts with practical advice to change bad habits for the better. Many people could make a few simple changes in their lives and end up with a lot more money, and over time, that could mean real wealth.It is true that some of the conclusions here will seem obvious to the financially savvy. But I question the idea that this is all "repackaged common knowledge." It isn't. Her messages are of the kind that bear repeating. How many people still buy a $3.50 latte every morning, stick thousands of dollars in a bank savings account at .2% interest, and have credit card debt well beyond what they can handle? If it were so obvious that these are unwise things to do with money, fewer people would do them! Suze shows that it's not enough just to recognize financially unhealthy behavior, you must also understand your personal history with money, the way you have been taught to think about it and value it, and understand how that history influences your financial decisions. Her recognition of the emotional value of money gives her the edge over other financial how-to books, which typically assume that money is a raw numbers game. It's much more than that, and Suze is right on insisting so.Her most controversial advice is that you, and not a financial planner, must ultimately be responsible for your money, and I think a lot of the one-star ratings below are from frightened financial planners who know that Suze is onto their game. She does not, for the record, say that you should never work with one, but simply acknowledges that the ultimate responsibility for your money is with YOU and not someone you pay to organize your investments. I think she's right, and with all of the online resources available today, there's no reason to be ignorant about how money works in our society. A little more attention from you can mean a lot more peace with your money, and being responsible makes it much easier to make money grow.One of the best sections of this book comes at the end, when she talks about the importance of giving. I just loved her discussion of how important it is to give and wish everybody would read it! In our greedy world, it's a message that needs to be heard.I found this book lifechanging and hope others can too.

For you, The Courage to Be Rich is a one star book.I appreciate the care and consideration Ms. Orman shows to her readers who may be suffering from emotional overwhelm (such as often occurs during and after a divorce, after a loved one dies, or while buying a first home). Her lists will probably help these anguished souls.Although money has a lot to do with math, Ms. Orman correctly perceives that it is all about emotion as well. Emotion and math do not mix well, and she provides many useful insights into how to make them work better together.An experienced and credentialed psychological counselor she is not, however. I suspect this book would have been better with two co-authors, one who is an expert on emotions about money and the other who is an expert on money to supplement Ms. Orman's skill as a communicator.Ms. Orman is neither, so th is book's treatment is pretty lightweight in both areas. But if it gets you started in dealing with your issues, all the better for you.The only part that seemed totally inadequate was her writing off of tax issues: You will spend a lot of money on taxes in your life and your choices do have a large impact on how much you will spend. Her advice is to feel good about paying more taxes because your income is higher. By contrast, someone who really wants to be rich needs to compound as much money tax-free or tax-deferred as possible. This book does not begin to address that subject.The Courage to Be Rich is a better book for dealing with specific life traumas such as divorce, death, and so forth. This book would be a good gift to a friend who has such an event in his or her life.Her stories are good, because they bring home the message of how crippling too much emotion can be, so we take this problem more seriously.I think the biggest misconception people have about money is that they do not need to address their feelings about money. In that sense, Ms. Orman is doing a lot for us by reminding us that we have deeply held beliefs and attitudes that deserve being reexamined from time to time. I enjoyed reading the book, although it only added to stockpile of stories, rather than my knowledge.Maybe the book's obvious appeal for general audiences can best be understood by thinking about the experience of watching a tear-jerker of a movie or television show -- you get a great feeling from knowing that the cataclysm is not happening to you.If you have heard Ms. Orman speak at length on television (which she does a lot), you can probably safely skip this book.To get a good return on your time with this review, I suggest that you pick one belief about money that you have where strong emotion comes into play. If that emotion does not serve you well, rephrase what you believe until it does serve you in the right way. Then, you'll have mastered a skill for having more!Live with rich thoughts and warm emotions!

The first 7 chapters and the last chapters (21-22) of this book are amazing and uplifting. But, personally, I felt that the stuff in this book about money and relationships, money and marriage and money and divorce really should have been shortened and simplified here and kept more positive and uplifting than it was for me. I did read the whole thing, and it all was interesting to me, perhaps because I am a financial planner. So for my clients I would recommend they read or listen to this book, but that they "stick their toe" into each chapter of chapters 8-20; if they find that chapter's subject matter useful, relevant and uplifting for them, then they should ride out the chapter and see what Suze has to say about the subject; if they don't, then I'd recommend they just skip on to the next chapter. This is a classic that's been updated to feel rather current.

This book was very informative and interesting too. So many books on improving your finances are just tedious and hard to get through if you are not into finances yourself. By pointing out how our finances are entwined in all aspects of our lives I was able to see how my thinking and attitudes affected my handling of money and vice verse . Suze Orman personalized the connection that money has with daily thoughts ,actions, relationships and beliefs.
